Nearly 40 classic cars paraded in Santa Maria for a Memorial Day cruise to celebrate service members.
Drivers met up at the St. Louis de Montfort Church where they took off and drove throughout the Santa Maria community in honor of past and present service members.
The organizer of the cruise route said she is hoping to cheer people up during the pandemic specifically seniors, birthday celebrants and car lovers.
"When the pandemic first started, we wanted to go by and wave at our family and friends and we were trying to stay away from them, and the shut-ins, the elderly, sick people and just cheer them up," said Julie Carr, the cruise organizer.
Carr said the group of classic car drivers grew through word-of-mouth and people sharing her route plans on Facebook.
