GOLETA, Calif. — More than 70 Community Emergency Response Team, also known as CERT, graduates and volunteers participated in a train derailment training exercise in Goleta.
Community members were able to learn how to respond to a train derailment event when first-responders may be delayed.
They also learned how to provide psychological first aid to people who may be traumatized from the disaster but not physically hurt.
CERT training in Goleta provides people the skills they need to know when emergency services may not be available during a disaster.
