Completion of the Pismo Pier Plaza Project is delayed.
The City says they are waiting for the final component of the project to be delivered and installed and have seen delays from the contractor that are “beyond our control.”
The project includes new parking, street improvements and new additions to the pier in an effort to modernize and beautify the coastal tourist destination.
A trio of airstreams on the pier will offer different experiences to visitors and seven-foot-tall letters spelling out Pismo Beach were installed at the front of the pier earlier this summer.
The City has said the goal of the $6 million Pier Plaza project is to make the area more enticing to visitors while maintaining the historic area's classic feel.
Work on the project began last fall.
