Construction crews began working on a historic bridge in Arroyo Grande Saturday morning.
According to the city's website, during its service life of over 100 year, the bridge has developed age-related deficiencies, leading to the Bridge Street Bridge Project.
Beginning Saturday morning, city crews lifted the bridge from its foundation, disconnecting the frame.
"They're gonna completely redo it, but still make it old-looking, keep the history, which for me I've done a lot of photography in the village and the history of the city has been very important," said resident, Mark Zammitt.
KSBY reached out to the city of Arroyo Grande to learn more about the project and has yet to hear back.
