San Luis Obispo County District Attorney Dan Dow says he will seek life in prison without the possibility of parole for accused killer Carlo Alberto Fuentesflores.

Fuentesflores, 43, is charged with the murder of Paso Robles resident Nancy Woodrum, 62. It's alleged that he committed the murder while committing rape and residential burglary.

Fuentesflores was arrested last December, nearly eight months after Woodrum disappeared from her home.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office said it identified him as a suspect after conducting numerous interviews with people who had come into contact with Woodrum before her disappearance. Fuentesflores reportedly had been hired to paint the deck on Woodrum's property.

Sheriff's officials say Fuentesflores led them to Woodrum's body, which was located off Highway 58 in eastern San Luis Obispo County.

Dow says he decided to seek life in prison rather than the death penalty "after careful consideration of all facts related to the case and the background of the defendant." The District Attorney reportedly consulted with Woodrum's family members, investigators and the defense before making the decision.

Fuentesflores has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. He is currently being held at the San Luis Obispo County Jail without bail.
