Eighty San Luis Obispo community members can now receive Dual-Car Smart Splitter devices for $40, normally priced at $499.

The City of San Luis Obispo Office of Sustainability, Cal Poly, a company called Neocharge and the LA Cleantech Incubator want to help people transition towards using electric cars and homes.

The Smart Splitter device can charge two electric cars at once, so residents don't need to rewire their home, wait for an electrician or pay for panel upgrades.

Neocharge and LACI are offering the device at a reduced price so they can evaluate how the Smart Splitter is used in the field.

Each person who receives a device will need to agree to participate in the study.

The City of San Luis Obispo has made no monetary investments in the devices, but officials have agreed to help residents receive this product.
