Earth Day Alliance in San Luis Obispo is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Earth Day in a different way this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Wednesday, April 22 marks 50 years since Earth Day celebrations began all across the world.
The Earth Day Alliance in San Luis Obispo has been taking part in the celebration for the past 30 years. The organization usually celebrates with an event fair every year, however the 2020 event has been postponed.
The event, which was suppose to take place on April 25, is now happening on June 27 to keep everyone safe and follow guidelines during the coronavirus pandemic.
Even though the event is postponed, organizers say there are still ways community members can celebrate from home.
"Have we made our house very green? Are there things we could start doing? If you haven't already started recycling, please start doing that. Just being less wasteful and drive less, walk more, ride a bike," said Earth Day Alliance Director Sandra Marshall.
