There's a new risk when in comes to living in California-- losing power because of increased fire danger.
To help people better prepare for a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS), Santa Barbara County emergency officials will host an informational meeting in Santa Maria Monday, October 14th.
The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. and will take place at the County Government Center Hearing Room located at 511 East Lakeside Parkway in Santa Maria.
When it gets extremely hot, dry and windy, a PSPS might take place and could lead to a multi-day power outage for customers of Southern California Edison and PG&E.
Utility representatives and county officials will be at the meeting to go over safety tips and help people prepare for possible extended power shutoffs.
