The 5Cities Homeless Coalition is opening up its warming center Monday night and is looking for additional volunteers to help with the check-in process between 4 and 8 p.m.

The organization says they are monitoring and taking extra precautions during the COVID-19 pandemic to help keep staff, volunteers and guests safe.

Some of the precautions include:

  • Guests will have their temperatures checked before entering the warming center
  • Everyone will wear masks and gloves at all times, and practice social distancing
  • All surfaces will be wiped down with disinfectant after each use

The 5Cities Homeless Coalition asks that only those between the ages of 18 and 60, who do not have underlying health issues, volunteer at this time.

The warming center is being set up at 946 Rockaway Ave., which is at the corner of 9th Street and Rockaway.
