The World Series is having a positive impact on some local businesses.
The owner of the Sports Forum in Downtown San Luis Obispo says anytime a California team makes it into something like the World Series, fans clear him out.
The only Dodgers items remaining on the store’s shelves right now are some hats, socks and other novelty items.
“Oh, it’s fantastic, fans coming out in droves. Everybody is supporting them regardless of what has happened in the past. I think that the fans feel like this is the year,” owner Kal Kastenek says. “It couldn’t have been better timing as far as sports coming back. Dodgers are playing good, obviously the Lakers winning, we will see how our football teams do, but I think people are looking for a distraction and I think sports is a nice distraction right now.”
If the Dodgers win, Kastenek says he will have championship merchandise available.
The Sports Forum has been in business since January 1988.
