Santa Barbara County firefighters rescued a dog from a storm drain on the UC Santa Barbara campus on Wednesday.
Fire officials say a citizen reported that they believed a dog was stuck in a storm drain beneath Mesa Road between Los Carneros and Stadium Way.
Once on scene, firefighters were able to spot the dog inside the drain. They reportedly used a hose to coax the dog to one end of the storm drain where a firefighter was waiting to grab her and take her up a ladder to safety.
Fire officials say Sophie, an approximately two-year-old mix, was reunited with her family.
She was reportedly missing for about 30 days and believed to have been in the storm drain for the past two or three days.
