On March 16, a maintenance project set to grind and pave a 1.5-mile section of northbound Highway 41, east of the Cholame "Y" will begin.
There will be lane closures in both directions for motorists, as well as one way traffic control with flagging from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays for up to three weeks, weather permitting.
For the traveling public, delays of at least 20 minutes should be expected.
The recommended detour is Highway 46 to Highway 33 to Interstate 5.
Electronic message signs and the CHP will be present to alert motorists and assist with enforcement and traffic control.
The work is expected to be complete by Wednesday, April 1 if the weather allows it.
Motorists are reminded by Caltrans to move over and slow down when driving through highway construction zones.
