Highway 1 will close at Paul's Slide near Big Sur at 5 p.m. on Saturday, according to Caltrans.
The decision comes after a major storm is forecast to hit the area.
Mud Creek will also shut down. That is planned for Sunday at 9 a.m.
Road conditions will be reassessed.
