Two horses injured in a crash last weekend on Highway 101 in Shell Beach are reportedly recovering well.
The mares were taken to The Equine Center in San Luis Obispo with "fairly significant injuries" following the Sunday morning crash near Spyglass Drive.
Officials there say one of the horses was discharged Wednesday.
The other, which had to be anesthetized before being pulled from the overturned trailer, has turned the corner and is showing signs of a good recovery, according to The Equine Center, which says the horse's injuries were both internal and external and included head trauma.
Her discharge is expected sometime next week.
Doctors say both horses made a remarkable recovery considering the condition of the trailer following the crash.
