Caltrans says two sections of Highway 1 through Big Sur that were closed during the latest storm will reopen on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
Mud Creek is expected to reopen to traffic at 1 p.m. and Paul's Slide will reopen by 5 p.m.
Both areas are prone to landslides, so Caltrans has developed a policy that calls for the sections of highway to be closed to traffic during significant storm systems.
Caltrans says its maintenance crews will continue to monitor the areas over the next few days, watching for ground movement or changes in road conditions.
