More than 700 new freshmen got an early welcome at Pioneer Valley High School in Santa Maria on Wednesday.
It was all part of the 11th annual "Link Crew" event.
About 150 juniors and seniors showed their incoming classmates everything the school has to offer, from classes to social activities.
"Today is the day to sort of break down that stress that they might have about starting a new school," explained Marcie Guerra, PVHS agriculture teacher and Link Crew coordinator. "High school is much bigger than their junior high and so today is the day to basically get them comfortable."
To help ease them into the new school, the students were broken up into groups and got a campus tour.
Students who have participated in this event before say it is a good ice breaker and way to make new friends.
The first day of school at Pioneer Valley is August 12.
