Community members and organizations are stepping up to help thousands of people in need this Thanksgiving.
The Foodbank of Santa Barbara County says it feeds 25 percent of the county's population throughout the year.
On Thursday, the foodbank had only collected about 400 of the 4,000 turkeys needed by Monday’s donation deadline.
After hearing about the need on KSBY, the foodbank says Assemblyman Jordan Cunningham’s office and also CaliDental, based in Lompoc, wanted to help.
They stopped by the foodbank Monday to donate, with Cunningham’s office donating 50 turkeys and CaliDental donating 200.
The foodbank says with those donations and also a grant from Costco that will allow them to purchase 3,440 chickens, 5,830 turkeys and chickens will be distribute throughout the community this Thanksgiving.
