A guilty verdict was reached Monday in the case against an Indiana man on trial for the murder of his mother in Grover Beach.
It took just hours for San Luis Obispo County jurors to convict Levente Lazar, 27, of first-degree murder and two other enhancements.
His mother, Athena Valentiny, 64, was found dead in her home on South 9th Street in October of 2018.
Prosecutors say Lazar killed his mother for financial gain.
He testified last week that prior to his mother's death, he had lost a large portion of his inheritance.
The case was sent to the jury late Thursday afternoon.
The San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office says Lazar will face life in prison without the possibility of parole when sentenced Dec. 11 since the special circumstance of murder for financial gain was proven.
