Mexico restaurant La Palapa in Los Osos is still dedicated to serving the community through uncertain times.
The owner, Joe Flores, says there are days where the restaurant doesn't even pull in enough money to pay half the staff -- but customers still keep calling in, asking them to stay open.
La Palapa has started offering free delivery to help adapt to tightening social restrictions. Flores even offers to drop food off himself, leaving orders near the front door to minimize person-to-person contact.
"The other day I was cooking and I looked back -- and I though I saw a customer sitting down [in the restaurant]," La Palapa Owner Flores said. "But, yeah, we definitely miss our customers. It would be nice for this to all go through. But I'm pretty sure that if we all stick together, we're going to make it through. Someday we'll have this dining room full again.
