Allan Hancock College’s fall semester is underway.

The community college says more than 10,500 new and returning students were enrolled as of Monday when classes began.

The college also welcomed 51 new employees.

"We want to welcome all our fall students, and let them know that Hancock is here to support them in attaining their educational goals," said Hancock Superintendent/President Kevin G. Walthers, Ph.D. in a press release. "We're proud to play a role in helping change the odds for our students."

Some of the students are enrolling through the Hancock Promise. It’s a program that provides recent high school graduates with free tuition for the first year.

Toyota of Santa Maria is selling a Launch Edition Supra and says a portion of the proceeds will go to the Hancock Promise program.

Hancock has campuses in Santa Maria, Lompoc and Santa Ynez.
