The NAACP San Luis Obispo County Branch is hosting an action rally Thursday evening in downtown San Luis Obispo.

The rally is scheduled to take place from 5-6:30 p.m. in front of the San Luis Obispo County Courthouse on Monterey Street.

This is the third in a series of action rallies planned by the NAACP. The focus of this rally is "Taking a Stand for Healthcare For All, Mother Earth and to End Poverty."

Speakers are expected to address the topics of racism and inequality in health care and health care access, confronting environmental racism, and exploring racism and poverty.

Previous rallies focused on racial justice and putting an end to violence of all types.

Participants are asked to wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines.

Monterey Street between Morro and Santa Rosa and Osos Street from Palm to Higuera are being closed for the event.
