The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office recently installed new 24/7 surveillance cameras in Oceano.

The new cameras are located at the Southwest Corner of 22nd street and The Pike.

Rosendro Buenrostro has lived in Oceano for 52 years and says he's happy traffic concerns and potential crime will be under more supervision.

"People are being more controlled and weary about if they're being filmed," added Buenrostro.

Brian Majors is new to Oceano and says the new surveillance is overstepping boundaries.

“A little violated, it’s not like I have anything to hide. It’s a pretty good area, but it’s a little too much I think," said Majors.

The San Luis Obispo Sheriff's Office says the cameras were installed at this location due to the high volume of traffic that passes through the intersection coming and going from Oceano.

The Sheriff's Office posted a sign which warns pedestrians and drivers that they are entering a 24/7 surveillance zone. They say the new sign is aimed at serving as a courtesy to the community and a deterrent to criminal activity.
