After months of traveling, Nipomo student athletes will be able to compete in from of a home crown on their own turf.
Nipomo High School unveiled its new running track Saturday.
Before the remodel, the school wasn't able to host track meets.
Now it can be used by gym students, competitors and the community.
Nipomo High School's principal said the new track will also help save travel costs and could potentially last 15 to 20 years before needing maintenance.
"It's really got a long life, and again, if we are attentive to the up keep and maintenance of it, we can get an even greater extended life out of it,” said Principal John Denno.
School officials say they're only allowing water on the track.
They said soda and coffee is too acidic and could damage the track.
Gum is also not allowed.
