UPDATE: An official with Caltrans says Highway 101 northbound is closed at Winchester Canyon Road and to southbound traffic just north of Dos Pueblos Road. Highway 1 in Lompoc is closed to detour travelers to Highway 246 and Highway 154. There is currently no time estimate on the reopening of Highway 101.

According to Santa Barbara County Fire, one person is dead after a crash on Highway 101 northbound near Winchester Canyon just north of Goleta. The crash happened just before 2:15 a.m. Wednesday. As of 2:30 a.m., Highway 101 northbound was closed near Winchester Canyon.
US 101 is closed to northbound traffic at Winchester Canyon Road and to southbound traffic just north of Dos Pueblos Road following a traffic incident. Caltrans is closing Hwy. 1 in Lompoc to detour travelers to Hwy's 246 and 154. There is no estimate for re-opening.@CaltransD5
