High school students in Orcutt are opening a small shop this week to help local families in need this holiday season.
The Delta High School Holiday Store opens Tuesday, providing free Christmas gifts and necessities for needy students and their families.
The store is located at the Element Christian Church which is across the street from the school's campus on Bethany Ln.
Student leaders expect the store will serve about 375 students with thousands of donated items including clothing, games, toiletries, blankets, candles and sports equipment.
The Delta Hope Club started the store, aiming to encourage students to be givers.
The store is open through Friday during school hours.
