A Paso Robles business is stepping up to help out local hospitals during the coronavirus pandemic.

Birch Fabrics has donated fabric, created template instructions and donated employee time to help make masks for healthcare providers.

Their customers are helping out too by sewing masks. Ellie Kelley who is the owner of The Breast Vest is sewing 100+ masks from home. She's also coordinating with home sewers for this project. The crafters live in Atascadero, Arroyo Grande, Nipomo, and Paso Robles.

But their generosity is not just felt in our own backyard. It's much more far reaching.

"Now we are even shipping donated fabric all over the U.S. Arizona, Washington, Oregon, New York City," said Cynthia Mann, Owner of Birch Fabrics. "At this time we've donated over 500 yards of fabric."

They've also made masks for housekeepers, cooks, and even homebirth midwives to name a few.

Anyone can get involved and help. You can find a free pattern on the Birch Fabric website. If you'd like to donate your time to sew masks you can reach out to Ellie Kelley who is coordinating the sewers. Her number is 805-674-1307.

If you know of a place in need of masks you can call the shop owner, Cynthia Mann at 415-309-1901 or visit their website and they'll donate the yardage needed.
