Students in Paso Robles are hoping to "Smash Out Hunger" in their community.

Kids from Flamson Middle School and Lewis Middle School have been bringing in caned food over the past two weeks to support local food bank Loaves and Fishes.

On Thursday, the students got to have some fun and celebrate their accomplishments by throwing water balloons at their teachers.

So far, organizers say the students have collected at least 2,800 cans and $350 from the Smash Out Hunger event.
