People are invited to donate blood during a blood drive in Santa Maria Tuesday.
It's hosted by the City and is taking place from noon to 4 p.m. on South McClelland Street across from the Santa Maria Library.
A Vitalant bloodmobile will be on hand in the parking lot between the lawn bowling green and the Paul Nelson Aquatics Center for people to make donations.
To sign up or reserve a time to donate, call Mark van de Kamp at (805) 925-0951 extension 2372.
"While donations of all blood types are encouraged, donors with Type O-negative blood are especially needed, because O-negative red cells can be transfused to anyone. O- negative red blood cells are often used to help patients when there is no time to determine the patient's own blood type," according to a press release.
City employees will also be donating blood at the drive.
