Perry Ford employees donate car to a local woman

A local woman was donated a car by 85 Perry Ford employees in San Luis Obispo.

Formerly homeless and a mother of twins, Amanda Brill was given a Dodge Caliber on Friday.

She had been living in 40 Prado Homeless Services Center for months with her toddler before she had twins in May. Upon coming back to the shelter, San Luis Obispo Mayor Heidi Harmon asked if she needed anything. She did: a car.

Her current car couldn't safely hold all her kids.

Perry Ford stepped up when Mayor Harmon asked the local dealership for a helping hand.

"I hope that [this situation] helps people who are in the position that I've been in to understand that there's hope and that if you reach out for the help that it's there," Brill said.

The 85 Perry Ford employees that donated the funds of their holiday party to give Brill a car were able to see her reaction Friday.

Brill is in college now and studying criminal justice. She and her kids are now living in transitional housing.
