The city of Lompoc said electric customers could be impacted in the following months by planned power outages or public safety power shutoffs.

This is an effort to protect communities from wildfire, according to the press release.

Pacific Gas and Electric Company are implementing a PSPS program as a precautionary measure for this fire season.

If extreme fire danger conditions threatened a portion of the system, high-risk transmission lines may be turned off, therefore resulting in outages across the city.

In the event of a PSPS, the city said they will provide updates on various media platforms and will work with PG&E to restore the services as quickly as possible.
