Santa Barbara Police say a sergeant who was leaving work Wednesday night stopped a burglary-in-progress at the police station.

It happened at around 11:30 p.m. in an outside area of the police department where supplies are kept.

Police say the sergeant was able to detain one of the two burglars but the second suspect, described as a man with shaggy light hair and dark clothing, ran away.

Officers searched the area but were unable to find the man.

Shauna Paddelford, 50, was booked in Santa Barbara County Jail on charges of burglary, looting during a state of emergency, and resisting an officer.
