UPDATE: Power outage impacts PG&E customers in Avila Beach area

UPDATE (4:56 p.m.) - Power was restored to all customers at 4:45 p.m. PG&E officials say they are still working to determine the cause of the outage.

UPDATE (4:30 p.m.) - Power was restored to customers shortly before 3:30 p.m. However, a new outage, which started at about 3:45 was affecting approximately 1,565 customers in the Avila Beach area.

PG&E estimates power to be restored by 7:15 p.m.

"PG&E regrets the inconvenience to our customers. Our crews continue to work to identify the cause and to safely restore power to those affected," a spokesperson said.

(2:39 p.m.) - Nearly 2,600 PG&E customers were without power in Avila Beach and the surrounding area Wednesday afternoon.

The outage started around 12:30 p.m. and was impacting 2,596 customers by 2:25 p.m., according to PG&E.

No word on the cause.

Power was expected to be restored by 5:45 p.m.
