The Prevention of Substance Abuse for Youth (POSAFY) hosted a free forum on marijuana and vaping on Sunday morning for teens and their families.

The event took place at Grace Church, which is located at 1350 Osos Street in San Luis Obispo, and ran from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

"The purpose of our group again is just to get the word out that, one, there is education out there to teach students and their families that marijuana and other drugs are not good for them at this age, and two, we're also trying to highlight the variety of positive activities that are available for teens," said Mila Vujovich-La Barre, the vice president of POSAFY.

The forum was open to the general public and is part of the family outreach program sponsored by Grace Church.

The event was primarily focused on marijuana and vaping, but also touched on alcohol, methamphetamine and fentanyl.

There were multiple panelists at the forum, including a law enforcement officer, a recovering addict and a member of the San Luis Obispo County Behavioral Health Department.

Each person on the panel spoke for several minutes and was then given the chance to answer questions.

This is the seventh forum that POSAFY has helped sponsor in two years. POSAFY will host its next forum at Cuesta College on April 21.
