A local organization is helping turn a one-bedroom house into a three-bedroom house in Santa Maria to help local veteran families get back on their feet.

La Casa de Flores is an organization that gives local homeless veterans a place to stay until they are able to find a place of their own.

Thursday, Lowe's donated windows and sent a few workers to help with installation at the now two-story home.

“Getting a donation is one thing, but having somebody come help and be a part of it, that’s what we do. We go help and we help be a part of a solution, so for them to come here and be a part of a solution and put their time and energy in for one my friends, Eric here, it’s his second time he’s come over here and doing this, and that’s what this is really special about this day. It’s meaningful,” said Steven Baird, president with Echo Group Band of Brothers.

La Casa de Flores promotes sobriety, recovery and stability through its in-house program.
