Community members are invited to attend a Disaster Preparedness Workshop hosted by the San Luis Obispo Police Department.
The workshop is Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the city's Library Community Room at 995 Palm Street in San Luis Obispo.
Fire officials will share tips on how best to prepare for various types of emergencies.
Fire Department staff will answer questions and offer tips about power shutdowns, wildfires, pet safety, earthquakes, etc.
Fire officials say a good starting point for preparing for any disaster is to stock enough food, water, medicine, batteries, cash and other essentials for at least 72 hours.
You can download informational fliers about emergency preparedness on the fire department's website.
