San Luis Obispo got a taste of Jewish tradition at the Apple and Honey Festival

People put their taste buds to the test to pick the sweetest apple pie at the Apples and Honey Festival.

The Jewish Community Center (JCC) of San Luis Obispo hosted Sunday's event at Mitchell Park as a way to celebrate the Jewish new year. The apple pie baking contest was the newest edition.

Members say the best treat is the tradition-- a horn blowing contest and honey-dipped apples.

The event also celebrates the harvest season and featured local food vendors and artisans.

People could stop by a demonstration booth to learn about apple pairing techniques and the importance of bees.

Gopher Glen Apple Farm supplied the apples that were used for food, games and crafts.

Other vendors included Oliveto, Beelieve and Bonnie Lee Books.

This is the fourth year of the festival.
