Santa Barbara County Animal Services is holding a special "Cat Nips N Chips" event this February.
Pet owners will be able to get their cats a fee-waived spay or neuter and a $14 microchip.
Animal Services says animal shelters across the nation are inundated with kittens each spring during so-called "kitten season," and spaying or neutering kittens and cats helps prevent the birth of thousands of unwanted litters.
