As more families are adjusting to remote learning, the Santa Barbara Zoo is helping parents by expanding its education programs.

The zoo's existing education program is launching "Early Explorers," a play-based early education program for children between the ages of three and five-years-old.

The hands-on program will teach kids how to garden, allow them to play outdoors, and explore the zoo's 28-acre outdoor "classroom."

Schedule options vary from full-time to part-time and the program is aimed at families with working parents.

"Our education programs, especially right now with kids not going back to school or some kids not being able to see friends, we're just really trying to be a community resource for a fun, engaging and educational and safe experience for our community," said JJ McLeod, Santa Barbara Zoo Education Manager.

The zoo's Outdoor Ed program, which is typically offered as a homeschool program, is also begin expanded and is available for students from three to 15-years-old.
