Thousands of veterans showed up to a BBQ in Santa Maria hosted by attorney Michael Clayton.
This is the 19th year Michael Clayton has organized a BBQ for veterans on Veterans Day.
Each year, the BBQ serves as a fundraiser for a particular veteran group. This year donations will mainly go to the Band of Brothers Softball League. Other funds will go to Camp Flores, which houses veterans in need, to expand their bowling league and to help continue reaching out to more veterans.
"We've never done much fundraising for Band of Brothers, we get a lot of private donations but today is the first time that somebody has come forward and actually did a huge fundraising event for us," said Steven Baird of The Band of Brothers.
Clayton says last year he served around 2,500 people, and raised $3,000 for Vietnam and Korean War veterans.
