Santa Maria is raising awareness of the upcoming U.S. Census.
On Thursday, the city is distributed thousands of reusable tote bags that read: "Be Counted in the 2020 Census. Your community is counting on you!" .The message is printing in both English and Spanish.
"April 1st is national count day," said Mark van de Kamp, Public Information Manager City of Santa Maria. "So the more awareness we can have in our community that the census is coming the better."
This year, the census is a nine-question survey that can be taken online, by phone, or by mail.
