The City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department is inviting the community to participate in a 10,000 steps challenge.

The challenge is for community members of all ages and fitness levels.

Participant can go on this website to download a walking journal. You can then choose a personal challenge level: beginner, intermediate or advance and log your progress using a personal tracking device; pedometer, smartwatch, or smartphone application.

Submit a photo or scan of the completed Walking Journal via email to rpinfo@cityofsantamaria.org. Participants will receive a commemorative prize in the mail after reaching their individual milestone.

The department created this program to encourage positive health and well-being within the community. They encourage everyone to participate in the 30-day steps challenge at home, around the neighborhood, local walking trail or park while also maintaining proper social distancing guidelines.

Questions may be directed to the Recreation and Parks Department at (805) 925-0951 extension 2260.
