The Shell gas station off Main St. in Santa Maria is hosting a fundraiser for the Mission Hope Cancer Center by donating a penny per gallon sold and selling products donated by local vendors.

Since 2012, that Shell gas station has raised more than $9,000 for Mission Hope Cancer Center.

The owner of the gas station said giving back to the center is something close to their hearts.

"I do know a lot of friends and family that have been affected different types of cancer so I just wanted to help out just a little way just something I can do and continue it for the years to come,” said Monica Brown, owner of Shell gas station.

The fundraiser is Saturday, Oct. 26 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Raffle tickets cost $12. There will also be about a dozen winners with prizes ranging from $80 to $200.
