People in the Atascadero area may hear or see helicopters Thursday morning but police say it’s only for training.
It’s happening near Pine Mountain and the Salinas Riverbed until 11 a.m.
Atascadero Fire & Emergency Services is working with the California Highway Patrol for the joint technical rescue training, according to police, who say there is no emergency.
Officials call joint agency drills like these "crucial" for low frequency, high risk events.
CHP helicopter will be training today with our technical rescue team. They will be flying over the river, cemetery and Sycamore Industrial Park between now and 11 am. #chp #atascaderofire pic.twitter.com/nOWM8XwCMT
