February 22nd, 2020 marks the San Luis Obispo Skate Park's 5th birthday and skaters of all ages gathered to celebrate.
The skate park, located on Oak Street, was the scene of a birthday party Saturday afternoon as event organizers gave out free prizes, ice cream and cake to attendees.
"It's a great place to bring your kids and it's a really good group of kids here and it's just fun to see the kids improve," said Jesse Acosta, an attendee.
The skate park is fully funded by donations from a Tony Hawk grant, Measure Y funding and Parkland Development fees.
In 2017, the San Luis Obispo Skate Park won the "Award of Excellence for Urban Design" from the American Planning Association.
