Officials with the San Luis Obispo County Office of Education say all county school districts will continue normal operation and cancel future large events amid the coronavirus outbreak.

School district officials say they are closely working together to provide the safest and healthiest work for educating students.

They say at this time all school districts within San Luis Obispo County are following the guidance of the San Luis Obispo County Public Health Officer and other governmental agencies.

Starting Thursday, school district officials will follow the state's guidelines to cancel events and gatherings of 250 people or more. Additionally, all non-essential gatherings such as field trips, shows, dances, assemblies, other events, and meetings under 250 people will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

According to a press release, individual districts may still take additional measures in coordination with public health officials.

District officials want to reassure the public that they are in regular communication and coordination with the San Luis Obispo County Office of Education, public health, and other agencies in order to maintain the wellness of the local schools and their students.
