The San Luis Obispo Police Department hosted a community engagement meeting to discuss uses of force on Wednesday night.
Called 'PEACE Talks,' (Policing Education And Community Engagement) these community meetings are to educate the public about what the police department does.
Tonight the meeting featured conversation and demonstrations surrounding the use of force. An officer demonstrated an arrest and illustrated how quickly interactions like that can escalate.
"The continued transparency and dialogue with the police department and with citizens--and I'd like to see a lot more of the community show up to see it because there's a lot to be learned," said Scott Smith-Cook, a San Luis Obispo resident.
The San Luis Obispo Police Department is going to continue these talks. The next one is on March 25, and it the conversation with revolve around the fourth amendment.
