St. Joseph High School in Orcutt returned to class Tuesday after a two week closure due to a case of COVID-19.

School officials decided to temporarily close the school after one student tested positive. The principal says no other students tested positive.

About half of the students returned to class on Tuesday, while the rest are doing class online at home.

"I'm incredibly excited to have our students back on campus, we know that for the social emotional health of students and to really fullfill our mission which is to help our students enrich christ, mind, heart, body and soul being on campus is incredibly important," said Principal Erinn Dougherty.

Students have the choice to stay home or attend in person classes. Some students say they are learning from home to limit their social interactions before traveling to their grandparents house for the holiday.
