Miner's Ace Hardware store in Grover Beach is seeing a major jump in sales for poinsettias.
The red flower has been widely used in Christmas displays for hundreds of years.
The nursery at the Miner's in Grover Beach says they are seeing a 40% increase in sales compared to last year.
They say the increase is likely due to COVID-19 and the quest to make the holiday season a cheerful time.
"Just makes me more happy, gives me that hope that the holidays are still you know here so it gives everyone happiness," said Miner's key carrier, Alicia Gudino.
The stores says they are getting restocked on the plants every week.
National poinsettia day is Dec. 12.
