The Santa Maria Fire Department responded to reports of a house fire on Friday on the 1600 block of Gunderson.
Officials found heavy fire coming from one unit, extending into the attic.
The fire destroyed the home and moderately damaged a neighboring unit.
No people were injured, although one dog was killed.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
