In Santa Barbara County, many community members say they are doing their holiday shopping at mom-and-pop shops this year.
The owners of Surf Connection, a family-owned surf shop in Lompoc, say Small Business Saturday is usually their busiest day of the year.
Manager and owner Robin Dunaetz says she's grateful for the support from the community.
"They're our community, they're our neighbors, they're our friends, they're our relatives; some of our customers I've watched from age two and grow up and now have families of their own," Dunaetz said.
The Dunaetz Family has owned Surf Connection for the past 30 years.
